PRODUCTS OF CORROSION OF 08KP STEEL UNDER THE EFFECT OF HIGHLY MINERALIZED MEDIA.

The water of natural sources in the Cuban Republic is characterized by a high content of mineral compounds, including carbonate and bicarbonate ions. The authors determined the effect of the bicarbonate ion on corrosion of 08kp steel in natural mineralized waters on the basis of the corrosion rates and the variation of pH of water with time. The composition of the protective layer of corrosion products (LCP) on 08kp steel was examined. The results obtained by chemical and thermographic analysis methods showed that the main components of LCP are maggemite gamma -Fe//2O//3, calcite and aragonite phases, and x-ray amorphous phases of hydrated iron oxides. The content of sorbed and crystallization water varies from 14. 8 to 22. 3%. The IR spectra of absorption of LCP were examined. The temperature regime of the experiments were selected taking into account the technological process and structural materials for sugar production.
