Historical and Sociological Analysis of Cultural and Legal Traditionsand Ethnic Identity Circassians-Shapsugs

The problem of preservation of cultural and legal traditions and ethnic identity of Adygs-Shapsugs in the co-temporal conditions is observed. The issue of Shapsug ethnicity's self-awareness and self-identification, as well as the issue of determination of its economic and socio-political role in global urbanization processes of the Big Sochi and surrounding areas are the main priorities of the modern Caucasian studies. A historical perspective of the traditional features of Shapsug Society's transition from the XIX century to the present days is given.
