Vladimir S.Barulin's Russian Man is an important book which will definitely influence contemporary studies of Russia (in Russia as well as abroad). It is an attempt to stimulate a socio-anthropological approach to relationships between society and man in Russia. Methodology is estimated as the most interesting component of the book. Especially heuristic is the author's differentiation of social world as such into two worlds: objectively-ontological and ideologo-hermeneutic. The book is written in a style that is clear, concise, and refreshingly free of metaphysical complications.
