STUDY OF THE DEGREE OF WATER AND SOIL POLLUTION OF THE UMBELUZI RIVER AND ITS TRIBUTARIES AS A RESULT OF AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES AND AGGREGATE EXTRACTION

Until the beginning of the year 2000, in Mozambique and in particular in the city of Maputo, water was seen as an abundant resource that apparently would never run out. Around 2014, the city of Maputo began to experience a water shortage due to the lack of rainfall on the Umbeluzi riverbed, the main source of water supply for the cities of Maputo, Matola and Vila de Boane. Nowadays water resources are increasingly limited, both in terms of quantity and quality. So, it is crucial to monitor their quality.
