THE ISSUE OF CLIMATE CHANGES WITHIN THE CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN BRAZIL

Global climate change is an existential threat for our planet and humanity in general. Climate models project the increasing of average surface temperature both over land and sea, growth of the frequency of natural disasters and calamities, and long-term changes within complex climate system. It is obvious that the process of global warming will persist for a long period of time due to several factors, such as: air pollution, melting of glaciers, the increasing of greenhouse effect etc. However, climate-related risk is a function of the rate and magnitude of temperature's growing. The potential impacts of climate change are comprehensive: it challenges people's existence and the way of life itself. The existential environment challenges and overshoot of planetary boundaries urged mankind to revisit the paradigms of sustainable development goals. Moreover, the end of XX century demonstrated the positive steps towards environmental management, hunger and poverty reduction in the form of “Millennium Development Goals”. Nevertheless, nowadays we can observe the need for reformation and transformation in all spheres of people's life, taking into account that the issue of climate change is still relevant and representing a threat for livelihood. In order to achieve a sustainable and inclusive world so-called “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDG) has been adopted by the majority of countries. These goals include the respect to our planet, people, prosperity, peace and partnership among the states. In this research the issue of climate change in Brazil and how this fact influences on the national Sustainable Development Concept will be considered. Brazil is one of the largest countries on Earth. The rain forest represents a unique ecosystem, which is particularly threatened by the impacts of climate change and global warming. In the worst-case scenario, huge parts of Amazon River could transform into savannah. This could have dramatic consequences for the world climate system itself and local population, whose livelihood depends on the river's existence. In this regard, the Brazilian government is concerned about the issue of climate change and is taking steps towards the resistance to this challenge. That is why this article is about development and conversation politics in Brazil (especially within the region of Brazilian Amazon). The main aim of the work is to analyze the phenomenon of climate change, its impact on Brazil and examined the reflection of climate change issue within the SDG Concept of this Latin American country.
