Assessment of the Spatial Resolution and Accuracy of Temperature Measurements in Radiothermometry of the Breast

Radiothermometry as a method demonstrates great potential for use in medical diagnostics and therapeutic practice. However, measurement of the brightness temperature using the intrinsic microwave radiation of the internal parts of biological tissues does not yield the direct spatial distribution of the thermodynamic temperature. Difficulties arise in the interpretation of radiothermometric data and determination of errors in temperature fields. The aim of the present work was to estimate the accuracy of such temperature measurements.
