APPLICATION OF HEAVY OIL PRODUCTION METHODS

Nowadays, due to the increasing depletion of light crude oil reserves, the oil industry is focusing on the production of heavy crude oil and bitumen to meet the growing energy demand. Heavy oil and bitumen are generally characterized by low API value, high viscosity, high heteroatom content and high density compared to light oils. This article provides the classification of heavy oil production methods. A particular focus is given to the analysis cold heavy oil production method, which is one of the most common methods for enhancing oil recovery.
