Развитие и употребление предлогов of, off, from, about в свете типологических характеристик английского языка

В статье описывается смысловая структура английских предлогов of, off, from и about в связи с проблемой обучения английскому языку. Внутренняя форма этих предлогов рассматривается в свете типологии английского языка. Переход от флективного к аналитическому типу и утрата развитой морфологии определили изменение его семантической структуры. Предлагается различение этих предлогов по признаку диффузность/дискретность.

A typological approach to the prepositions of, from, off and about in the diachronic and synchronic perspective

The article examines the preposition of as contrasted with off from and about. The semantic structure of these words is treated within the framework of the main typological characteristic of the English language, which is an analytical one. This approach explains the meaning of of, off from and about as resulting from the loss of inflected forms and morphology. These prepositions differ as discrete and diffusive ones.
