Upon the effects of the increasing threat to the environment and global warning and climate change, Federal government has established and enacted laws and policies to govern and monitor the activities of these oil companies This paper outlines the various government agencies, laws governing environmental monitoring/protection in Nigeria and the challenges they face in performance of their duty.
