DOES THE ENNEAGRAM HELP TO IMPROVE EGO DEVELOPMENT IN ADULTHOOD?

The ego in adulthood remains on average at average levels. Its development in adulthood affects a person's standard of living and social interactions in general. But at the moment, little is known about how to develop it. Enneagram is a typology of personality that considers character as a dynamic structure, and it helps a person to understand himself, loved ones and improve relationships with people. We assume that knowledge of the Enneagram can ensure the development of the ego in adulthood through understanding their own characteristics and other people. To study this issue, a subject field review was conducted using Scopus database, and additional sources were considered. A total of 259 articles were reviewed, 39 were selected and included in the review. As a result of the thematic selection of documents, 3 categories were identified in which the documents were considered: articles including an analysis of whether the Enneagram is applicable to the development of the ego in adults, articles studying the topic of the Enneagram in various industries, and articles aimed at studying the development of the ego in adults. Few articles dealt with the development of the ego through the study of the Enneagram, and the review found an insufficiently broad base that requires more detailed and comprehensive research in the future. Insufficient attention was also revealed to the actual problem associated with the study of postconventional levels of ego development, and the extent to which ethnicity affects the results of research has not been investigated. The results of this subject field review can be used by the professionals working with this problem.
