Alternative methods of education and non-standard approaches to teaching are becoming more and more popular and are replacing traditional teaching. To describe the methods studied, we conducted this scoping review in the academic database Scopus. A total of 2254 studies were reviewed, 31 were selected and included in the review. As a result of the thematic review of documents, 5 main groups were identified: online education; game-based education; improving the quality of education through the development of personal qualities and self-education; flipped learning and also the impact of alternative technologies on teaching. Very few articles have explicitly explored the opinions of educators on the use of alternative technologies and the impact of these methods on their work. The review also revealed insufficient attention to certain alternative methods such as flipped education, brainstorming. The results of this review can be used by the professionals and other people interested in different teaching approaches.
