Право участия в Великих Панафинеях

Главный государственный праздник Афин, Великие Панафинеи, состоял из Панафинейских игр и праздничных торжеств, включавших в себя панафинейскую процессию. Программа Панафинейских игр предусматривала атлетические, конные и музыкальные состязания, принимать участие в которых могли все граждане греческих полисов (афиняне и неафиняне), и местные состязания, предназначенные только для афинских граждан. В панафинейской процессии принимали участие мужчины и женщины, граждане и метэки, афиняне и неафиняне, юноши и старцы.

The main public festival of Athens, the Great Panathenaia, consisted of Panathenaic games and festive celebrations that included a Panathenaic procession. The program of the Panathenaic Games included athletic, equestrian and musical competitions, in which all citizens of the Greek Polis (Athenians and non-Athenians) could participate, as well as local competitions intended only for Athenian citizens. The Panathenaic procession was attended by men and women, citizens and metiks, Athenians and non-Athenians, young men and old men.
