THE MECHANISM OF INDUCED APOPTOSIS IN THE TREATMENT OF BREAST CANCER

Breast cancer is the second most common disease after lung cancer. Mostly this disease occurs in women. Over 1 million people get sick every year. The likelihood that a woman will develop breast cancer before the age of 30 will be 1 in 233. [1] After 80, it is much higher - every eighth woman develops cancer. Usually, patients are very worried when they hear this diagnosis. After surgery to remove the breasts, the patient feels inferior. But this disease is curable and people should not give up. Scientists can influence cancer cell to make it resort to apoptosis. Usually, such “self-destruction” occurs when something “wrongly breaks down” in a cell and its further existence can harm the body. Caspases, special cell enzymes, trigger the process of apoptosis. Therefore, now scientists are studying the induced apoptosis of cancer cells.
