The article describes the exocrine pancreas biopsy`s method in a dog, as a result of which the morphological features of the pancreas of dogs are established. Studies have shown that inflammation of the pancreas usually occurs in specific areas within the gland, rather than diffuse. There is also a random distribution within the gland of inflammation. It is possible that a single biopsy or even multiple small biopsies cannot identify the presence of inflammation or necrosis in certainly diagnostic test, but their absence does not exclude the diagnosis. Biopsy can be obtained by laparotomy or laparoscopically. An algorithm has been developed for examining the pancreas in dogs for pathology (detailed examination of parapancreatic tissues and the gland itself; examination of all abdominal cavities for free fluid and infiltrates; examination of pleural cavities and pericardial cavity for effusion; detailed examination of the bile ducts, visual examination of the vessels of the portal vein system, the study of the retroperitoneal space).
