The article explores the main features of Sino-European relations, which were analysed by the well-known Russian scientist M. Nosov. This paper focuses on participation of European Union member countries in the Chinese geo-economic project, the “Belt and Road” Initiative. The topic is relevant due to the fact that most EU member countries are members of the Asian infrastructure investment Bank, as well as participate in projects of transport infrastructure development in Europe, which are financed by the Chinese investors. The author points out that the EU lacks a common foreign policy strategy towards China. China, in its turn, changes its investment strategy in Europe, which manifests itself in developing relations with the EU countries at the bilateral level, primarily with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. In the author's opinion, it may cause further disagreements in the EU. © 2019 Institute of Europe Russian Academy of Sciences. All rights reserved.
