Variation of the Composition and Properties of Cementite in Heat Treatment of Tilling Machine Members from Chilled Cast Iron

Results of a study of white iron cementite in binary Fe – C and ternary Fe – C – Si compositions and in castings of unalloyed white iron with traditional composition are presented. It is shown that the hardness and the corrosion strength of the cementite may vary in a wide range depending on the rate of cooling of the iron after crystallization. Optimum processes for casting and heat treatment of members of tilling machines from chilled cast iron are developed for raising their strength and wear resistance. © 2019, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.
