A Comparative Analysis of Sources on Additive Manufacturing Technologies in Construction

The presented paper deals with the practical and illustrative examples of automation technologies, namely additive technologies, in the construction industry. It is the possible advantages and generally automation necessity in the construction industry that determine the importance of this emerging technology. The purpose of this consideration not only to present and describe consistent implementation of the technology but also to identify the main directions of its realistic implementation. It can be done with the help of successfully completed projects that can prove the viability of the technology being under discussion. The methodology used is based on the available literature review and analysis. The concerned technology is seemed to be quiet promising to access the full potential applied to the construction industry. The aim of this analysis was to provide information to researchers and broaden the current situation of additive manufacturing technologies in the construction industry through companies and organisations that successfully apply it in practice in a varying degree. In this study the relevant literature was reviewed in order to discuss the technology potential mentioning the mechanisms and technological solutions they use. The study also gives a brief overview of historical milestones in development, implementation and characterization of the most significant examples. This paper also proposes the possible future directions of 3D printing technology development. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
