The article considers the linguistic personality of the journalist. The authors give examples of the modern type of journalist - first of all, the person with a strong "me", which is inherent emotionality, egocentricity and the desire to do what has not been done before. Through various language techniques, the journalist can manipulate the audience, adapting it to the desired emotion. The use of lexical techniques can reflect the personal attitude of the author to the problem. Knowledge of linguistic and extralinguistic features of speech gives the journalist the opportunity to freely use the language, which gives his speech confidence, logic, and helps to manipulate the audience.
