The article deals with the issues of professional communication directly related to the psychological problem of perceiving the outside world and, hence, to the linguistic world-image (LWI), which is already present in the mind of an individual. This fully applies to the professional linguistic world-image (PLWI). The authors propose a description of the PLWI as a system, structure this system and analyze its components and their interrelations. A necessary and sufficient set of skills and abilities is determined that allow individuals to communicate in a specific professional environment and also specific difficulties are identified that characterize professional communication in a foreign language. In addition, an analysis is made of peculiarities of the PLWI formation in foreign students, corresponding to their future specialty. Finally, the main methodological principles of teaching the language of business communication to foreigners are formulated. All the provisions are illustrated by examples from the PLWI of architects, designers, engineers and journalists.
