Rheumatoid arthritis in young children

The experience is generalized of the observation of 70 children, aged 10 mnth - 4 1/2 years suffering from rheumatoid arthritis 25 of them were followed up 1 1/2 -5 years after their first examination. The results of the follow-up studies were compared with those obtained in other age groups. Certain features of rheumatoid arthritis in young children have been revealed: subacute onset of the disease in the majority of the patients, high percentage of monoarthritides at the beginning of the disease, prevalent affection of the knee and ankle joints, a minimal and moderate activity of the process in most children, more frequent affection of the eyes, etc.
