LINGUO-CULTURAL ANALYSIS OF FAMILY RELATIONS' VOCABULARY IN RUSSIAN PROVERBS AND SAYINGS

Proverbs and sayings, traditions and customs of the country serve as a bright reflection of national identity. They are collected and transmitted from generation to generation in written texts, primarily in works of fiction. In the process of reading and translating texts containing a large amount of linguistic and cultural information, foreign students are faced with the problem of understanding these words. This is due to the fact that they belong to the layer of nonequivalent lexis, which is present in every language. In order to overcome these difficulties, it is necessary to teach foreign students to understand these lexical units. To create a training methodology for these units, it is considered advisable to conduct a linguo-cultural analysis of the vocabulary, which would make it possible to clarify the cognitive features of the concepts under study: the “nature and character” of family relations, their role in people's lives, possible contradictions, and paradoxes in the interpretational layers of these concepts. For this purpose, 225 proverbs and sayings were examined. Based on the studied literature, the following groups of proverbs and sayings were identified: proverbs and sayings about wives and husbands; proverbs and sayings about parents and children; proverbs and sayings about secondary relatives; and proverbs and sayings about “temporary categories” in kin relations.
