Tech-pharmacognostic study of Argania spinosa raw material for assessment of prospects of its integrated usage (short communication)

Relevance. A promising area of pharmaceutical research is to expand the resource base of medicinal plants, producing unique metabolites of interest to medicine, including fatty oils. One of these plants is the Argania spinosa from the Sapodilla family - endemic to the Southwest Morocco, which seed oil is used in traditional medicine in North Africa for food, medicinal and cosmetic purposes and exported as an expensive and valuable raw material. Purpose. Outlook for the integrated use of argan raw materials and its oil in the pharmaceutical and medical practice. Results. During Pharmacognostic studies diagnostic features in the morphology of fruits, and seeds of the argania spinosa were revealed, the proportion of seed, pulp, and endocarp in the fruits of argan were studied. The scheme of conversion of fruits, which allows to get, in addition to traditional seeds two other types of raw material: endocarp and the flesh – with a yield of 55 % and 39 %, respectively was developed. Some of the chemical and technological characteristics of argan oil produced by traditional squeezing, circulating Soxhlet extraction with hexane and CO2 extraction was investigated. The compositions and technology of oleogel of argan oil with Aerosil, emulsion cream 10 and 20 %, based on the RAP for medical use and 10 % cream in the emulsion waxes for use in medical cosmetics were elaborated.
