Considered is methodology of complying indicators, that allows to characterize efficiency of technological development of the economy. Presented are definitions, classifications and methods of calculation of research intensity indicators, of manufacturing and production, criteria and algorithms of their reference to high-tech, medium-tech, and low-tech levels, used by OECD, Eurostat, Statistical commission of the United Nations, National scientific fund of the USA and other international and national statistical organizations. Major issues of this branch of domestic statistics are considered: concrete methodological approaches to the determine indicators of direct, indirect and total research intensity indicators of production and services; on this basis, analysis of high-tech production market is carried out.
