The article analyzes the complex political-legal and environmental situation which has developed in connection with the use of water resources of the Amu-Darya and Syr-Darya rivers basins by five Central Asian states (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan). In considers initiatives of these states on creation of an International Aral Rescue Fund incorporating the Interstate Coordination Water Economic Commission and Basins Water Economic Associations for Syr-Darya and Amu-Darya. International legal solutions directed on overcoming of the environmental crisis situation in the Amu-Darya and Syr-Darya basins are suggested.
