Mycotoxins exhibit carcinogenic, mutagenic, teratogenic, nephrotoxic, hepatotoxic and immunosuppressant effects on the host organism. The prevalence of these compounds in animal feed leads to a decrease in productivity of livestock and the development of mycotoxicosis. Mycotoxins are stable compounds, resistant to various feed production, processing and storage environments. Therefore, the problem of mycotoxins detection in animal feed remains urgent. The detection of mycotoxins in feed employs various analytical techniques. ELISA and TLC are more applicable for screening purposes whereas HPLC is used as the confirmatory method.
