The construction industry plays a critical role in the economy and development of the Russian Federation, providing jobs and generating revenue. However, it exerts considerable social and environmental impacts. Russia is committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Identifying the relevant sustainability initiatives in the construction industry is essential for achieving sustainable development and ensuring the long-term viability of the industry. The National Project Housing and Urban Environment was formed under the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on National goals and Strategic Objectives for the development of the Russian Federation through the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services and employed to improve the sustainability performance of the housing industry. The performance Indicators of the National Project were linked to 17 of 37 relevant UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets. This work is based on the evaluation and identification of performance gaps in the National Project Housing and Urban Environment.
