The aim of this article is to provide a general overview of RUDN University's current position on development studies. Development studies is a multidisciplinary field that examines the political, cultural, geographical, and socioeconomic evolution of nations. It arose as an academic discipline in the late twentieth century, in response to growing questions about third-world economies attempting to develop themselves in the postcolonial period. RUDN University is heavily engaged in a variety of non-western global security studies study areas, some of which will be covered in this volume. As a result, the article describes the current state of development studies research at RUDN University, as well as the position of the post-graduate program "Global Security and Development Cooperation."
