Implicitness in translation context based on Donna Tartt's novel “the goldfinch”

The article analyzes the phenomenon of implication in the translation context on the example of the novel"The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt since the status and type of implicit information of statements and texts has not been fully defined and specified yet. The determination of such a status, the consideration of issues related to the processing of implicit information, the implementation of communicative competence, as well as the clarification of content in translation, determine the relevance of this study. The authors explored the phenomenon of implication in fiction and considered the role and features of implicacy as a speech phenomenon. The authors concluded that writers quite often use implicit expressions in their texts to simplify the perception of the text, to avoid excessive lexical repetition, as well as tautology, while in translation the method of explication is mostly used as a method of preservation of implicative information, as well as over-translation.
