DIFFERENTIATION OF MILK HYGIENE IN INTENSIVE AND EXTENSIVE FARMING SYSTEMS IN LEBANON BY DETECTING THE PRESENCE OF STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS AND ESCHERICHIA COLI

This study compared the quality of milk in Lebanon between an intensive farming system (Saab Dairy Farms) and an extensive farming system. Milk samples were collected from 30 cows of the same age and breeds and cultured for Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Results showed that the values found in Saab farm were satisfactory, while those found in other farms were acceptable. Control measures should be taken to improve the quality of milk in extensive farming systems.
